Do you learn to achieve or to discover?

Categories:

Consider that everyone has a gift to learn with nobody knowing what their limits are until they truly apply themselves to learning.  Learning how to apply oneself may also be considered a learning opportunity. You may find it useful thinking about the following questions:

  • Have you ever stopped to reflect on why you learn?
  • Is it to achieve a qualification or to get a job or a promotion?
  • Perhaps to get better at a sport?

Thinking a little deeper about why you learn:

  • Are there any other reasons why you might choose to learn?
  • What do you think are the differences between learning to achieve and learning to discover?
  • What are the advantages of learning to achieve and learning to discover?

Thinking about the learning environment:

  • What kind of learning environment do you prefer?
  • How does learning to achieve and learning to discover affect the learning environment?
  • Would you like to create your own learning environment?

Exploring the distinction between learning to achieve and learning to discover may be beneficial for learning.
